  • So, you know how to set your machine up for free motion quilting (FMQ). You've learnt the loops and pretty much mastered the meander (and maybe even a few more)... but now you are stuck in a rut?
  • Nervous to attempt new designs when you know you have a safe option?
  • Or perhaps you are excited and eager to try new designs but feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start?
  • Time to invest in your learning instead of paying for Long Arm Quilting services?
Is that you?  Does that sound familiar?  Then I would love to help you! After launching my successful Beginner Course for FMQ, I've realised that students are eager to learn MORE after mastering the basics.  So I have put together this follow-on course that will help you build your design repertoire and start to fill your quilting toolbox!  I've also found that students loving learning via the online platform.

I used to run this as a Live course, but found students didn't want to wait for me to run the course.  They wanted to be able to study and practise when it suited them.  So now I'm offering it as an On-Demand online course that you can purchase when you like, watch the videos when you want and practise when it's convenient for you.  You still have opportunities to ask questions in every video lesson.
  • You will learn how to confidently quilt a number of beautiful designs (all listed below).
  • You'll master the skill of turning the sketches into quilting.
  • You'll learn how to build a complex design using simple shapes.
  • Your confidence will increase, and you will feel more adventurous when choosing quilting designs for your projects.
I break it down into manageable bite sized chunks so you don't get overwhelmed.  The learning content is broken down into modules.  These consist of short videos to watch and practice sessions that you do at home.  The last module is an optional mini project for you to test out all your new designs.

You'll be able to join a community of others joining in with the course.  Here you'll be able to share pictures of your practice pieces and encourage and celebrate with one another.   We also have a pretty active Sewing School Facebook group for all participants of my online courses.

So, in a nutshell, this course is for you if you want to elevate your quilting skills and add more designs that you can confidently quilt and have fun with on your projects.

"Have been wanting to do this type of quilting for a few years, I did a beginners course a few years ago but always felt I needed more. This course has done that.

I am not very good with the computer stuff, but managed to get around the website, portal and Facebook OK. Quite a feat for me. I wont shy away from online courses again. So that was a bonus for me.

The videos and paper lessons were easy to follow and I never felt stranded. I have enjoyed this course so much, I am an avid quilter but my enthusiasm had gone following the dreaded Covid infection.

This course has bought me right back into my quilting. I am thrilled with the project results that I achieved. Thank you Jo."

Why trust me with your learning?
  • Free Motion Quilting is a passion of mine - it's my favourite part of the patchwork & quilting process.  I have found that I can get so lost in free motion quilting that it reduces anxiety and makes me happy! And I want that for you too!
  • And I love teaching it to others, taking away the mystery of it and making it achievable for all!
  • I have successfully delivered course content in this format and have found that students learn incredibly well from the pre-recorded video lessons that they can refer back to at their own pace in the comfort of their own sewing room.
  • I've been successfully helping people learn how to free motion quilt for the last six years so I know I can help you too!

"Jo makes FMQ feel less scary as she teaches the basics first and then explains how the basics are used in the more difficult motifs. She is very supportive and motivational and is very helpful if there is anything in particular which needs a bit more explanation. I loved every minute of it!!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Absolutely - so long as you meet the criteria given above about who this course is aimed at.  You will already be able to set up your machine for free motion quilting and confidently free motion quilt a meandering design, and possibly others such as loops and pebbles.  You'll already know how to resolve tension issues.  If not, then this course may not be the right one for you and may be too advanced.  I have designed this course to follow on from my beginner class so I won't be teaching the things I taught in that course on this one.

If you are at all unsure which course is most suitable to you after reading both course descriptions then by all means email me before booking so I can make sure you are booked onto the correct course for your current skill level. I want you to feel that you can achieve the course objectives not be totally out of your depth.

Once you’ve paid you’ll be asked to set up a log in.  Once that’s done you’ll be able to access the portal.  You’ll automatically be emailed a receipt and log in link to my Online Sewing School (Portal), so if you didn’t set up the log in when you paid, you’ll be able to do it using the link.

Some security systems are causing a glitch in the system and not registering the click on the Buy button.  If this happens you have various option to buy the course: try buying on a different device; contact me to arrange a different payment method; go into your security (e.g. Kaspersky / Norton) and allow data collection for this website, that seems to resolve the issue.

This is an 'On-Demand', this means that you will learn at your own pace.   You'll have access to the content for a minimum of 6 months after signing up, however I do NOT put a limit on it, so you'll have access to the content for as long as I keep the website open.  I have no plans to close it and also guarantee my students that should I ever make the decision to close then I will give you six months notice to watch all the videos and download the workbooks.

No problem! You can type your question in to the box beneath the relevant video.  Your question might have already been asked and the answer might be right there under the video in the Q&A section so be sure to check there too by clicking on the 'Load More' button to see the responses.

Alternatively post your question in the Community Page or Facebook Group.  Either myself or one of our other lovely members is sure to be able to answer it for you. :-)

This is all listed above.
