Free Motion Words: Notebook Messages

In a previous class in Quilt Hive, (Free Motion Quilting -13) we looked briefly at how to add a word into your quilting. And then in class 25 we looked at combining the technique of free motion embroidery with quilted postcards. In this class I want to combine those two skills with a specific design that features one of my favourite things.

I’m a bit of a word nerd, a quote lover if you like. I often find it hard to think of profound words or phrases myself and so instead I turn to more learned people than I, to help make sense of some of the harder situations in life!

My house is littered with quote pictures on the walls! I also have three ‘quote of the day’ books that give me something new to think about every day. Maybe you’ve got a message of your own that you want to commit to stitch? A phrase, or the lyrics of a song that are important to you.

In this class you’ll learn how to create a Notebook style page and free motion your message onto fabric. Maybe you will attach yours to a postcard to send to a friend that needs to hear some encouraging words. Maybe you’ll make it into a pouch or coin purse instead? Or even add it onto a quilt. Maybe you will use this skill to add labels to your quilts?

Course Curriculum

I've been teaching sewing, patchwork & quilting for over 10 years and I'm excited to help you.

I have absolutely LOVED helping every single one of my customers develop and improve their sewing, patchwork & quilting skills.  It's truly rewarding to see students progress and have 'lightbulb moments'.

I love teaching, breaking topics down into bite-sized chunks and making it achievable for all!  Since moving most of my teaching online it's been eye opening to realise that most people learn better this way: working at their own pace and having more time to practise; but still getting time with the teacher to ask questions.
