Needle Turn Applique - Class Content

This class will be lead by Sonia Spence from Fabric & Flowers who will teach all about Needle Turn Applique. The needle turn method of applique is a slower process done by hand, that can be mindful and meditative. Perfect for summer months when you want to sew outside or for when you want to take a project along with you for a journey or vacation!

In this class you will learn:

  • all about the essential tools and supplies that you need for appliqué 
  • how to make your own templates at home and how to get the best results using them 
  • about different ways to prepare your fabric shapes for appliqué 
  • tips for getting the best results with slip stitching 
  • how to tackle curves, including convex ones, and sharp points 
  • how to trim away background fabric from behind appliqué shapes

Course Curriculum

I've been teaching sewing, patchwork & quilting for over 10 years and I'm excited to help you.  

I have absolutely LOVED helping every single one of my customers develop and improve their sewing, patchwork & quilting skills.  It's truly rewarding to see students progress and have 'lightbulb moments'.

I love teaching, breaking topics down into bite-sized chunks and making it achievable for all!  Since moving most of my teaching online it's been eye opening to realise that most people learn better this way: working at their own pace and having more time to practise; but still getting time with the teacher to ask questions.
