I'd set enrolment to close on Thursday 20th July at 7pm so you could attend the LIVE Welcome session but I've been asked to let some latecomers come in. So I'm keeping it open until Saturday 22nd July at 10am.
Don't miss out! I MUST close it then or you won't have time to make it before the class closes. Sorry!
What will you use yours for?
These baskets are perfectly sized for:
Hi there! I'm Jo. I'm the owner of The Crafty Nomad, home of the Quilt Hive learning membership for quilters. I've been teaching sewing, patchwork & quilting for over 10 years and I'm excited to help you.
The best bit of my job, without a doubt, is getting to help quilters become more confident and fall in love with their hobby just a little bit more (if that's even possible!) when they start being happier with the quality of their makes!
Since moving most of my teaching online it's been eye opening to realise that most people learn better this way: working at their own pace and having more time to practise; but still getting time with the teacher to ask questions.
Spend the weekend learning how to:
Then share a picture of your make in our Facebook group or in-portal community page. You'll be able to ask any questions using the question boxes inside the teaching portal.
Live Wrap Up Session on YouTube - Q&A, Show & Tell, Prizes! (7pm (UK time) (BST)).
I have a few prizes up for grabs, so I will choose winners at random, picked from those who have made a basket and shared a picture of it either in the Facebook group or community!
Access to video classes will cease at 9am for non Quilt Hive Members. If you want access for longer we'd love to welcome you as a Quilt Hive member :-)
" Jo is a fantastic teacher, breaking it down in to bite sized chunks and delivering both videos and handouts. Using the online portal together with the lives makes it feel very personal. Jo is super responsive to any questions or problems you share. As a bonus there’s a tremendously supportive Facebook group too!"

Pre-cut Magic Piecing Class
Once you’ve signed up you’ll be asked to set up a log in if you don't already have one. Once that’s done you’ll be able to access the portal. You’ll automatically be sent an email with class access instructions, this will include a link to set up a log in so if you didn’t set up the log in when you signed up, you’ll be able to do it using the link.
Sometimes the technology decides not to do what it should! Very frustrating! Sorry it's happened to you. First of all, just double check your junk/spam folder. Also make sure to add jo@thecraftynomad.co.uk to the Safe Sender list in your email settings. Next go to the Register Page and sign up. Once you are in, you'll be able to click on the My Courses tab at the top. If your enrolment was processed then the class will show up in your courses. If it's not there or you have problems registering then just drop me an email at jo@thecraftynomad.co.uk. It's often just a typo in the email address during sign up.
I've tried to make it so that you'll be able to use what you will already have at home. So there are heaps of possible options for what you can use. So don't worry if you don't have a Mini Charm Pack!
Supplies List
- A mini Charm Pack (pre-cut 2½” squares), or thirty two 2½” squares cut from scraps
- A fat quarter for the lining and handles
- Bosal 2.5" Watercolour Grid fusible interfacing, or any other non-grid lightweight, fusible interfacing
- Bosal In-R-Foam or Soft n Stable, batting, or fusible fleece (optional)
- Iron, Ironing surface, baking paper
- Thread, sewing machine, pins, clips
If you are stuck on a bit that just isn't making sense to you, just pop a comment in the comment box under that lesson. I'll get a notification of it and can pop you an answer in the comments. Keeping it there also helps other people who might be stuck on the same bit.
Yes of course you can. All of the actual teaching is via pre-recorded video lessons that will become available after the first live session. These will be available for you to watch at any point from 7pm on Thursday 1st of May 2025 until 9am on Tuesday 6th May 2025 (UK time). You can join in when it suits you or your time-zone during that time. I will record the Welcome live and will load that asap after we finish.
You'll have access to the teaching content until 9am (BST - UK Time) on the 6th May 2025. After that time the class will only be available in my Quilt Hive membership, so if you would like to continue having access to it beyond that date you can join Quilt Hive.
I try to keep the videos bite sized so they range from 3-13 minutes, totalling about 2 hours.
