Hawaiian Quilt Applique - Class Content

Discover the beautiful art of Hawaiian quilt appliqué in this beginner-friendly workshop, led by Yasmeen from Sand & Stars. Using a thoughtfully designed cushion cover project, you'll learn the traditional techniques that make Hawaiian quilts so distinctive.

Throughout the workshop, Yasmeen will guide you step by step through the process, and by the end of the workshop, you'll have a completed cushion cover and the confidence to use these traditional techniques in future quilting projects.  

Whether you're new to appliqué or looking to try a different style of quilting, this workshop offers a relaxing introduction to an applique technique that celebrates nature, symmetry, and mindful hand stitching.  In this class you will learn:  How to choose fabrics and colours for a striking Hawaiian quilt design  How to understand the traditional folded-cut method used to create symmetrical motifs  How to prepare and transfer your appliqué shape  How to position and secure your appliqué shape accurately for stitching  An overview of the needle-turn hand appliqué technique including useful tips  Ideas and guidance to stitch traditional Hawaiian hand quilting methods  How to finish your cushion cover ready to enjoy at home

Course Curriculum

I've been teaching sewing, patchwork & quilting for over 10 years and I'm excited to help you.  

I have absolutely LOVED helping every single one of my customers develop and improve their sewing, patchwork & quilting skills.  It's truly rewarding to see students progress and have 'lightbulb moments'.

I love teaching, breaking topics down into bite-sized chunks and making it achievable for all!  Since moving most of my teaching online it's been eye opening to realise that most people learn better this way: working at their own pace and having more time to practise; but still getting time with the teacher to ask questions.
