Don't miss out! I MUST close it then or you won't have time to make it before the class closes. Sorry!

  • Have you ever wanted to personalise a quilted project? Or maybe just add a relevant word?
  • Of course you could piece, or applique, the word. But have you thought about quilting it on instead? I used this technique for the Tumbling Spools quilt and a number of other projects too, and it's really effective! The quilting adds extra depth and interest.
Personally I love the quilting part of a project. For so many reasons. It's actually my favourite part of the process. But I know not everyone feels the same way :-(

I see it as a personal mission to convert lots of patchworkers into quilters! So I'm running this FREE taster class to show you exactly how I sew these words, and I would love for you to join in and have a go! It's really fun and easier than you might think!

In this free taster class you will learn:
  • How to add a quilted word to a project
  • Various methods to transfer the word onto your fabric
  • How to use a walking foot to stitch the outline
  • How to use a darning or free motion foot to stitch the pebbles inside
  • You might even pick up a few tips about threads during the class!

What will you make with your quilted word? The options are endless as to where you might use this technique:

  • A mini quilt
  • A decorative hoop
  • A pouch or bag
  • A cushion
  • A mug rug

Opportunity: You might have heard me chatting about my Quilt Hive membership, and wondered what it's all about? Taking this class is a great opportunity for you to get a little taste of what it feels like to be a Quilt Hive member.  I've structured the class in a similar way to Quilt Hive classes, so if you love this class, you are going to adore the membership!

You'll be able to ask any questions using the question boxes inside the teaching portal. Hi there! I'm Jo. I'm the owner of The Crafty Nomad, home of the Quilt Hive learning membership for quilters. I've been teaching sewing, patchwork & quilting for over 10 years and I'm excited to help you.

I have absolutely LOVED helping every single one of my customers develop and improve their sewing, patchwork & quilting skills.  It's truly rewarding to see students progress and have 'lightbulb moments'.

I love teaching, breaking topics down into bite-sized chunks and making it achievable for all!  Since moving most of my teaching online it's been eye opening to realise that most people learn better this way: working at their own pace and having more time to practise; but still getting time with the teacher to ask questions.

Sometimes the technology decides not to do what it should!  Very frustrating!  Sorry it's happened to you.  First of all, just double check your junk/spam folder.  Also make sure to add jo@thecraftynomad.co.uk to the Safe Sender list in your email settings.  Next go to the Register Page and sign up.  Once you are in, you'll be able to click on the My Courses tab at the top.  If your enrolment was processed then the class will show up in your courses.  If it's not there or you have problems registering then just drop me an email at jo@thecraftynomad.co.uk. It's often just a typo in the email address during sign up.

If you are stuck on a bit that just isn't making sense to you, just pop a comment in the comment box under that lesson.  I'll get a notification of it and can pop you an answer in the comments.  Keeping it there also helps other people who might be stuck on the same bit.

Yes of course you can. All of the actual teaching is via pre-recorded video lessons that will become available after the first live session. These will be available for you to watch at any point over the weekend: 7pm Friday 7th - Monday 10th June 2024. You can join in when it suits you or your time-zone during that time.  I will record the Welcome live and will load that asap after we finish.

You'll have access to the teaching content until the 10th June 2024.  After that time the class will only be available in my Quilt Hive membership, so if you would like to continue having access to it beyond the 10th you can join Quilt Hive.

I try to keep the videos bite sized so they range from 2-9 minutes, totalling about 1 hour 30 mins.
