Ruler Quilting for Beginners  - Class Content

Have you ever heard of Ruler Quilting? Wondered what it's all about, and if it's possible to do on your domestic machine?

Our Ruler Quilting for Beginners class is taught by industry expert, Angie Attwood. Angie has put together a fabulous class that will introduce you to everything you need to get you off the starter blocks with this technique.

Ruler Quilting is 'guided' free motion quilting. Essentially you would drop the feed dogs as you do with free motion, but instead of roaming free, you would use rulers to guide the stitch line. It's a fabulous technique and produces very professional looking designs.

In this class you will learn:

  • How to select the correct ruler foot/shank size for your machine
  • Why there are differences between template thicknesses
  • All about other tools and equipment that will give a good set up
  • How to fit the foot and get you started, beginning with simple straight lines and curves.
  • Tips for holding templates and manoeuvring your quilt project 4 step-by-step pattern exercises designed specifically to help you better understand ruler work basics and template markings

You can check out the full contents of the class below.

Course Curriculum

I've been teaching sewing, patchwork & quilting for over 10 years and I'm excited to help you.

I have absolutely LOVED helping every single one of my customers develop and improve their sewing, patchwork & quilting skills.  It's truly rewarding to see students progress and have 'lightbulb moments'.

I love teaching, breaking topics down into bite-sized chunks and making it achievable for all!  Since moving most of my teaching online it's been eye opening to realise that most people learn better this way: working at their own pace and having more time to practise; but still getting time with the teacher to ask questions.
