  • So, you know how to set your machine up for free motion quilting (FMQ). You've learnt the loops and pretty much mastered the meander (and maybe even a few more)... but now you are stuck in a rut?
  • Nervous to attempt new designs when you know you have a safe option?
  • Or perhaps you are excited and eager to try new designs but feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start?
  • Time to invest in your learning instead of paying for Long Arm Quilting services?
Is that you?  Does that sound familiar?  Then I would love to help you! After launching my successful Beginner Course for FMQ, I've realised that students are eager to learn MORE after mastering the basics.  So I have put together this follow-on course that will help you build your design repertoire and fill your quilting toolbox!  I've also found that students loving learning via the online platform.
  •  You will learn how to confidently quilt a number of beautiful designs (all listed below).
  • You'll master the skill of turning the sketches into quilting.
  • You'll learn how to build a complex design using simple shapes.
I'll break it down into manageable bite sized chunks so you don't get overwhelmed.  Each week there will be a new module for you.  These will consist of short videos to watch and practice sessions.  The last module will be an optional mini project for you to test out all your new designs.

We'll have a total of 6 LIVE Zoom sessions during the 5 weeks where you'll be able to ask me any questions you might have about the content.  (No pressure to attend if you prefer to learn on your own).

You'll be able to join a community of others joining in with the course.  Here you'll be able to share pictures of your practice pieces and encourage and celebrate with one another.   We also have a pretty active Facebook group for all participants of my online FMQ courses.

So, in a nutshell, this course is for you if you want to elevate your quilting skills and add more designs that you can confidently quilt and have fun with on your projects.

"Have been wanting to do this type of quilting for a few years, I did a beginners course a few years ago but always felt I needed more. This course has done that.

I am not very good with the computer stuff, but managed to get around the website, portal and Facebook OK. Quite a feat for me. I wont shy away from online courses again. So that was a bonus for me.

The videos and paper lessons were easy to follow and I never felt stranded. I have enjoyed this course so much, I am an avid quilter but my enthusiasm had gone following the dreaded Covid infection.

This course has bought me right back into my quilting. I am thrilled with the project results that I achieved. Thank you Jo."

Why trust me with your learning?
  • Free Motion Quilting is a passion of mine - it's my favourite part of the patchwork & quilting process.  I have found that I can get so lost in free motion quilting that it reduces anxiety and makes me happy! And I want that for you too!
  • And I love teaching it to others, taking away the mystery of it and making it achievable for all!
  • I have successfully delivered course content in this format and have found that students learn incredibly well from a mix of pre-recorded and LIVE sessions that they can refer back to at their own pace in the comfort of their own sewing room.
  • I've been successfully helping people learn how to free motion quilt for the last five years so I know I can help you too!

"Jo makes FMQ feel less scary as she teaches the basics first and then explains how the basics are used in the more difficult motifs. She is very supportive and motivational and is very helpful if there is anything in particular which needs a bit more explanation. I loved every minute of it!!"

Free motion builder course

If anyone had told me at the beginning of the year what I’d be capable of quilting now I’d never have believed them, I amazed at what I’ve achieved all thanks to Jo’s brilliant tuition. The course is designed to teach you basic quilting shapes that are then used in a variety of stunning designs. The format and Jo’s excellent videos are there to look at again and again so you learn at your own pace. I can’t recommend this course highly enough.

Confidence Building Course

Having completed the introductory FMQ course and really enjoyed it I was keen to build on my knowledge and skill. This course followed on so naturally and Jo's ability to share her love of FMQ is inspiring. Jo is a natural teacher and communicator and the course material is easy to follow and understand. I have not only added another tool to my quilting tool box but perhaps more importantly gained in confidence to try new things. The supportive, friendly Facebook group is an added bonus too. Thank you Jo.

Brilliant course.

Thank you for another great course. Having completed the beginners course I jumped straight in to learn more. Realize that practice, practice, practice is the way forward so must set a session each day to improve. Thank you again Jo and look forward to the next course you may run.

Fabulous

Thank you Jo, for this course. Although I have not yet done the project, I have done all lessons and have learnt such a lot. You make it easy to understand, and a lot less scary than I thought it would be. You have given me the confidence to move in to bigger and better projects. Thank you. Xx
